Yes it is true Mike Myers is bringing back Austin Powers. For better or for worst his most profitable comedy creation will be returning to our screens at some point in the not too distant future. Surprised? Yes? No? Well looking at Myers recent track you shouldn't be - 'The Love Guru' anyone?
I enjoy the 'Austin Powers' films - they are so much fun and endlessly quotable. They may not be that clever, but they have never failed to make me laugh - even 'Goldmember' the worst out the three is still enjoyable because there is the "the long, hard and full of seamen" joke which is just hilarious and there can be no debate about otherwise.
What worries me about this proposed fourth film is that Myers is clearly desperate to get his live action film career going again and that might mean certain things like quality can be diminished. Maybe quality is something someone wouldn't usually associate with Austin Powers, but this could turn into an absolute bomb if it is blatantly an attempt at a cash grab.
Hopefully there will be plently of Dr.Evil who is easily the funniest character from the series (there were even rumblings of spin off for him), but so far no plot details have emerged only the news that Myers is involved. One can only hope Myers best intentions are present in this film because no one wants Austin Powers to turn into his other cash cow 'Shrek' which should be all but dead.
That's this news story in a chestnut and there is no word on whether there will be frickin' sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads....yet.
