Golden Globes 2012 Nominations: 'Breaking Bad', 'Community' And 'Drive' All Miss Out
The nominations for next years Golden Globes were announced today and they were of course hugely controversial. Again the judges at the Golden Globes showcased how out of touch they are with massive fan favourites missing out in both the film and television categories. A few eyebrows may be raised at nominations for 'Cars 2', Jonah Hill and this years 'Blind Side'...'The Help', while notable omissions include 'Drive', 'Warrior' and surprisingly 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows'. Although this year has not been great for "award films", so it is little surprise to see silent film 'The Artist' and George Clooney's 'The Descendants' leading the nominations.
Television fared much worse with Glee yet again receiving a nomination for best Comedy/Musical, despite mixed reception from fans and critics alike. Also disappointing is the lack of support for the much loved 'Community' which did a better Glee episode in 22 minutes than they have managed in 3 seasons. Also missing out is '30 Rock' and 'The Office', which are usually ever present and considering how NBC actually televise the ceremony makes it hugely surprising.
The biggest crime is the lack of nominations for 'Breaking Bad', which despite critical acclaim and coming off the back of its best season yet, receives just one nomination - Best Actor for the brilliant Bryan Cranston. How it missed out on an Best Drama nod is mystifying because its so much better than 'American Horror Story' and certainly better than the all flash, no substance 'Boardwalk Empire'. Also there are no nominations for Aaron Paul or Giancarlo Esposito, who along with Cranston have displayed some of the best acting seen on TV this year. If I had it my way 'Breaking Bad' would win every award, even the film ones.....I love it that much. Anyway enough ranting see what you make of them...after the jump!
